Angels and Demons by Dan Brown

About the experiences of a foster mom – it’s funny, sad, an eye-opening and inspirational read.

Baby Wise by Gary Ezzo and Robert Bucknam

Using the principles in this book helped both my children to sleep through the night by three months. I always give it as a baby shower gift!

Burned Alive by Souad
Category: Documentary

This one isn't for the faint at heart, but it's very eye-opening. It's about honor crimes that happen in the West Bank and other places. It's a true story of a survivor. It really moved me.

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
Category: Fiction

The Eight by Katherine Neville
Category: Fiction

Five Minutes Peace by Jill Murphy
Category: Children’s

For any mom who just wants five minutes peace once and a while, this humorous story about an elephant and her three children will help to explain it to your kids! My son loves this story, and now when my patience is at its end I can tell him I need “five minutes peace” and he understands, and gives me about 2 ½ minutes!

The Magic Circle by Katherine Neville

Making a Living Without a Job : Winning Ways For Creating Work That You Love by Barbara Winter
Category: non-fiction/business/personal growth

the best book I have ever read to encourage and give practical ideas and advice about leaving the nine to five and creating money doing what you love. (I havent worked for someone else since my oldest child was born...)

The Man Who Walked Between the Towers by Mordicai Gerstein
Category: Children’s

My son brought this home from a book fair at school, and we were both mesmerized by it from the beginning. It tells the story of Philipe Petit, who walked a tightrope wire between the Twin Towers in the 1970s. The description of how he and his friends got the wire set between the two buildings and how Philipe danced on the wire was charming. But even more important was how the story inspired a discussion about 9/11 and what happened to the Twin Towers. My son was only 3 ½ when it happened, and although he remembers the planes hitting the towers, he never fully understood what happened until we had this chance to talk. A lovely book with a happier memory of the Twin Towers.

The Navigator by Morris West
Category: Inspirational Fiction

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks
Category: Fiction

Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood
Category: Science Fiction

Promised Splendor by Connie Mason
Category: Romance

The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth am I Here For? by Rick Warren
Category: Inspiration

This book helped me see my “simple life” with a purpose I had never understood before.

The Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella
Category: Fiction

The Stephanie Plum Series by Janet Evanovich
Category: Fiction

I cast my vote for this series. There are now 10 books in the series, starting with One for the Money and ending with Ten Big Ones. They are hysterically funny and a great, easy read. With a 6 month old, I have little time for reading much other than Child Development books, but I try to read a couple of chapters every night just to escape and have a little laugh.

The Sound of Paper by Julia Cameron
Category: Creativity, inspiration

This book is tremendously awakening. For any person who simply wants to write. Short chapters are easy for any busy Mom to read - and she can pick and choose the writing exercises she wants to complete. HIGHLY ++++ recommended.

The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Category: Fiction

This is the most cleverly written book I've read in a long time. Each chapter is dedicated to a different point in time. It takes a few chapters to get used to "traveling through time", but after that I found myself wanting to read just one more chapter...on top of that, the characters are loveable and human. A love story like you've never read before!

While I was Gone by Sue Miller
Category: Fiction

Your Girl by Vicki Courtney
Category: Parenting

Raising Godly girls in an ungodly world -- AWESOME, practical, convicting, and powerful
